Murph 2021

On Memorial Day, we celebrated together in honor of our fallen family members who gave it all up in the belief of serving those back home with the usual tradition of meatheads everywhere: by doing the Murph. We told you guys to let your friends and family know so they could come hang out and participate.

And boy, did people show up.

Behold the throngs of athlete’s replete with preworkout and taped-up-hands.

Behold the throngs of athlete’s replete with preworkout and taped-up-hands.

We had almost 70 people arrive to do the Murph -- scaled and strict -- and it. Was. Amazing!

We assembled into heats to aid in the flow of athletes, and with every volley of people we couldn’t help but smile ear-to-ear. The weather was perfect, the energy was high, the workout sucked, and the music was pumping.

At one point, the entire gym was screaming to I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston. How anybody had the lung capacity to do that is beyond science and bordering the arcane magics of yore.

You're singing it right now. Aren't you?

That’s the Power of CrossFit Holland.

At CFH, we believe that family is first. We had current members, former members, future athletes, people’s spouses, kids, best friends, frenemies, you name it all giving the Murph a go for our first major gathering in over a year. Everyone was, has always been, and always will be welcome in our house.

After wiping the sweat off our brows (and all the equipment) we did what everyone else does on Memorial Day.

We ate our weight in burgers and brats, drank beer generously provided by Guardian Brewing Company, and had healthy recovery smoothies from Locale Nutrition.

Speaking of the local businesses we worked with, all the proceeds from the event went to support a project called TMRW, a Veteran owned fitness organization built to raise money for Mental Health & Suicide Prevention.

Locale is a nutrition boutique for active athletes, Guardian is an 100% LGBTQ+ owned brewery, and TMRW is working for suicide prevention.

So, What's Next?

We had such a good time celebrating and working out with you all. Such a good time, in fact, that we are inspired to try to capture lightning in a bottle. So CrossFit Holland is proud to announce:

Once a month we are going to designate a Saturday to big group events like the Murph. We will get together, do an insane workout, raise some money for a good cause, and eat a ton of food afterwards!

And just like the Murph, for Super Saturdays all of your friends and family are encouraged to join us. FOR FREE.

Details will be released as soon as possible for our first Super Saturday Special!

Thank you all for making our Memorial Day Murph a special one, for supporting local businesses, and supporting a great cause. We'll see you all soon at the gym!

Keep rocking,
